Helga Thórisdóttir
Helga Thorisdottir was appointed Data Protection Commissioner for Iceland in 2015. During her tenure, she has placed particular emphasis on the protection of health data, children’s data, and public awareness-raising activities to promote understanding of data protection in Iceland.
Prior to her current role, Helga served as Acting/Deputy Director and Head of Legal Affairs at the Icelandic Medicines Agency. Helga has also held positions at the Ministry of Education, the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels, the Icelandic Parliament, Alþingi, and The Directorate of Public Prosecutions in Iceland.
Helga holds a Cand.Jur. degree from the University of Iceland, has completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at IESE Business School in Barcelona, and holds a diploma in French.
